Exclusive: Lady Gaga 'So Blessed' By Grammy Nods

'Four years ago, I was dancing on the bar, so [I'm] pretty happy,' she tells MTV News of her three nods.
By Matt Elias

LOS ANGELESLady Gaga marked her third performance at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre — just three days after taking on both opening and closing set duties at the "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!" — as she headlined KIIS-FM's 2011 Jingle Ball on Saturday night.

It was at the Grammy concert earlier in the week that she picked up three nominations: Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year (her third nod in that category). Notice a trend going on here?

MTV News caught up with Mother Monster exclusively backstage at Jingle Ball about what this trifecta of Grammy nods means to her.

"I was just so happy and I feel so blessed," Gaga told us. "And, you know, to be nominated for my album three years in a row for the body of work means more than anything because I'm a songwriter. And to be appreciated as a songwriter and be able to call up my buddies who helped me write this album [Born This Way] and helped me produce this record, and sort of all have our first moment together, it meant a lot to me and it still does. I'm very happy."

But the "Marry the Night" singer, who was flawlessly decked out in her best Audrey Hepburn ensemble on Saturday, had a hard time deciding which nom meant the most to her.

"Well, Album of the Year and Pop [Vocal] Album ... both mean a lot to me," LG said. "I mean, they all three do. I'm 25! Four years ago, I was dancing on the bar, so [I'm] pretty happy to be here."

And there were thousands of fans inside the Nokia Theatre who were happy to have Gaga there too. Being a holiday show and all, Gaga got in the gifting spirit early by giving the crowd a slight glimpse of what her upcoming 2012 tour might look like.

"It's going to have the feeling of it in some ways," Gaga said. "It's hard to explain, it's very different aesthetics. But the vision of the show tonight is sort of a continuation of this junkyard motorcycle gang mixed with a dark Christmas. So it's going to be a great show and I'm excited. We worked really hard on it and I can't wait to see all of the fans tonight."

One thing lacking onstage was Gaga's "Olympic-sized moon" that she joked was just too large to bring out. Little Monsters will just have to wait for her full arena tour next year to see it in all its glory.

Supporting Gaga on the bill at this year's Jingle Ball show were David Guetta, Gym Class Heroes, Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, Sean Paul, Big Time Rush and Karmin.

Are you looking forward to catching Gaga on tour in 2012? Tell us in the comments!

Britney Spears' Femme Fatale: My Favorite 2011 Album

Spears reinforced her bad-girl persona with an ode to nightclubs and hot boys.
By Jocelyn Vena

Britney Spears' Femme Fatale
Photo: Jive

To say that 2011 was an outstanding year for pop is a bit of an understatement. Rihanna wanted her fans to Talk That Talk, Lady Gaga was Born This Way, Demi Lovato declared herself Unbroken, and Beyoncé and Adele pledged their allegiance to the numbers 4 and 21.

But no album was as booty-shakingly fun as Britney Spears' Femme Fatale. The first time I heard the album, I was hooked. It reminded me why I fell in love with Britney and her music over a decade ago.

Quite possibly the best work of her career, Femme Fatale — which dropped in March — is a cohesive, sonically unwavering piece of dance pop. It makes no grandiose political statements, except Spears' pro stance on hot guys and dance clubs, and it certainly makes no apologies for just being a really, really good time.

It's thumping, sassy, loud and sexy. It's Britney Spears doing what she does best: cooing about dancing and boys over club beats and synths. She rounded up the best of the best on the production end of things (Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and will.i.am, to name a few) and proved she still has what it takes to kill it from beginning to end. It's heavy on club anthems full of mind-bending beats and samples that add flair but never make it too busy.

At times, it's even self-referential. On "Inside Out," Spears drops lyrics from some of her biggest hits like " ... Baby One More Time" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy." There aren't many relevant artists with a catalogue deep enough or beloved enough to pull that off.

On "I Wanna Go," Spears reminds us that even though everyone is waiting for her to burst, she still wants to cut loose every once in a while. She's one of those people who can poke fun at her public image and be completely endearing while doing it.

You never count out a femme fatale; they're mysterious and wily, foxy and sexy. And 2011 confirmed the lesson pop culture can't seem to learn: You never count out Britney Spears. She is pop's ultimate femme fatale. Now go dance your butt off — it's what Britney would want.

Katy Perry and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" were the top nominees on Tuesday for the 2012 People's Choice Awards. Harry and the crew racked up a total of nine nominations for the 38th annual event, which will take place on January 11 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Other big names on the initial list of nominees include LMFAO, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Adele and Beyoncé.

"Potter" was the headline, though, with nine nods, including Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Actor (Daniel Radcliffe), Favorite Movie Star Under 25 (Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Emma Watson), Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast and Favorite Book Adaptation.

Perry was just behind with seven nods, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song of the Year ("E.T."), Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Animated Movie Voice ("The Smurfs") and Favorite Music Video for "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." The high school musical hit "Glee" also had seven nominations for Favorite Network TV Comedy, Favorite TV Guest Star (Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristin Chenoweth) and love for stars Chris Colfer, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Jane Lynch. Voting for the awards ends on December 6. Kaley Cuoco will be the host for the show.

Other Favorite Movie nominees include "Bridesmaids," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," while Ryan Reynolds, Robert Pattinson, Johnny Depp and Hugh Jackman will vie with Radcliffe for Favorite Movie Actor. It will be Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone and Jennifer Aniston up against Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon for Favorite Movie Actress, while "Thor," "Fast Five," "Transformers" and "X-Men: First Class" will face "Hallows" for the Favorite Action Movie title.

In the music categories, the Favorite Male Artist race includes Eminem, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias and Blake Shelton, while Perry will be fighting Adele, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift for Favorite Female Artist. The Song of the Year race includes Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and Perry's "E.T." Zac Efron, Jessica Biel, More Hit 'New Year's Eve' Debut

'You're hungry, you're like, 'My back's sore,' ' Biel jokes to MTV News of symptoms of wearing a baby bump in Gary Marshall flick.
By Christina Garibaldi

On Wednesday, the cast of "New Year's Eve," Gary Marshall's latest ensemble flick, gathered at New York City's Ziegfeld Theatre for a Tribeca Film Institute benefit in celebration of the star-studded film's release. The follow-up to the director's box-office hit "Valentine's Day" has a similar theme: multiple plotlines told in a series of vignettes.

MTV News hit the black carpet, where we caught up with castmembers, including Zac Efron, who revealed to us that veteran actress Michelle Pfeiffer had a lot to do with convincing him to take on the part.

"It was great," Efron told MTV News of working with Pfeiffer. "I remember the first time I met her was on 'Hairspray,' and she's Michelle Pfeiffer — she had that aura, star aura — so I was always very nervous around her; [she's] very beautiful.

"We never really got the chance to connect on that movie," he explained of the 2007 musical. "So on this film, I remember I got a voicemail from her, and she said, 'Look, I would love to do this if you want to do it, and I want to take it to the next level.' And I'm like, 'I'm in 1,000 percent, and I love you so much, thank you so much for that voicemail. I can't wait, let's do it!' And here we are. It was a dream come true."

And Marshall seems to have made another dream come true for young actor Jake T. Austin, who has his first big-screen kiss in the flick with co-star Abigail Breslin. "We met each other hours before," Austin told us. "It was more like, 'Hi, nice to meet you, you ready?' But it was not that awkward, it was cool."

"It wasn't that awkward because we kinda didn't treat it like a big deal," Breslin added. "He was very sweet, he was a gentleman. It all went well. We just kinda treated it like it was no big deal."

Jessica Biel also hit the black carpet in a stunning, shimmery Valentino gown, a far different look than what she sports in the movie.

"I actually kind of enjoyed it," Biel said of wearing a baby bump for her pregnant character. "It was a strange thing. I didn't think I was going to feel as comfortable as I did with it. When you put that thing on, you start to rock with it: You're rubbing it. You're like, 'Wow this is not so bad after all.' You're hungry, you're like, 'My back's sore' — no, its not, you're faking it — but you still feel that these symptoms are happening to you, it just felt really natural."

Lady Gaga Describes 'Marry The Night' Breakdown As 'Honest Moment'

'It is my personal way of seeing things. I am the artist of my own life,' Gaga says of her self-directed video.
By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga exorcises her demons in her nearly 14-minute-long clip for "Marry the Night," which premiered Thursday night. Depicting Gaga's journey from an early career trauma to her reinvention as a successful pop star, she intended for art to imitate life in the clip.

For those wondering what left Gaga so traumatized, she explained it all to E! News preceding the video's premiere. The video is a metaphor for how she felt when she was dropped from her first record label, Island Def Jam, before landing at her current home at Interscope.

"It was one of the worst days of my life and it happened quite quickly. But in my mind, when I think back on that period of my life, it all happened very slow," she explained. "It is my personal way of seeing things. I am the artist of my own life. I choose to tell you what happened," she continued. "If you give up after something like that, you were never destined to be an entertainer."

In the video, after hearing from her ballet director that she should quit, she restructures her goal and plots her rise to pop stardom. "In order to be great writing music or at fishing or at being a mechanic or designing buildings, you have to acknowledge what is wrong with your work, or what is dishonest about it," she said. "What have I not been really great at?" Those obstacles, she says, are a big part of what makes her who she is now. "I love the obstacles," she said. "To marry your obstacles means I, the artist, wholeheartedly accept everything you throw at me. I am destined to struggle, I am destined to write music about the struggle and I accept it willingly."

There are several scenes where Gaga is naked and experiencing a mental breakdown in her apartment. "Well, I was naked in real life when it happened," she said, referring to the moment she found out she'd been dropped. "That's probably the most honest moment in that video of everything I've ever done. My directorial decision was for them to just f---ing roll the cameras, because I couldn't go in and out of the moment. I wonder if I will actually release that scene in its entirety — it's about 30 minutes long."

"It was intensely important to me that it was not too beautiful," she added. "It was an incredible experience. It was amazing. It was absolutely amazing."

This marks the first time that Gaga has directed a video all on her own. She recently split from her longtime creative director Laurieann Gibson, however, she clarified how the Haus works during the interview. "I have always been the creative director, and the Haus of Gaga has always been the creative force behind what we've done. There really aren't many tremendous changes.

"I know it's my directorial debut, but I've really created everything I've ever done in my career," she continued. "I really didn't do anything differently on this video that I didn't do on the 'Telephone' video or the 'Paparazzi' video or the 'Bad Romance' video. I hope my fans will take from this the progression that you have to trust yourself to make mistakes."

While the subject matter of the video is dark, there are also some tongue-in-cheek moments. "I always believe that you walk the line of humor if you're being so incredibly serious," she explained. "There's something quite comical about the opening of the video, even though it's quite sinister and dark," she said. "It's meant to be comical."

So, how would Gaga sum it all up? "In essence, it's insight into my entire creative process and the way that I view things," she said.

'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Track List Revealed

First single from Trent Reznor/ Atticus Ross soundtrack is Karen O cover of Led Zeppelin song.
By Gil Kaufman

You kind of can't go wrong when the soundtrack you've put together for one of the most eagerly anticipated literary adaptations in years kicks off Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O's take on Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

Fans heard the throbbing industrial take on the rock classic cooked up by former Nine Inch Nails mastermind and O when a trailer for the David Fincher-directed "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" leaked back in May. And on Thursday, Oscar-winning industrial-rocker-turned-film composer Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross unveiled the full track list for their "Tattoo" score album.

The follow-up to their award-winning "The Social Network" score was a labor of love, according to a post Reznor put up on the NIN site on Thursday announcing the disc. "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' " he wrote about the American version of the tale of pierced and punished hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) and her muckraking journalist compatriot Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig). "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus."

The album will be released on iTunes on December 9 in two versions. Right now, you can download the Karen O song on iTunes when you pre-order the 39-track album. That download purchase will also give you a link to the eight-minute "Dragon Tattoo" trailer, for which Reznor and Ross created a unique score.

But, if you visit the NIN online store, Reznor is offering the soundtrack in a variety of forms, from a free six-track sampler to a deluxe 3,000-piece limited-edition signed $300 package with your choice of MP3 formats; the full album on six pieces of 180 gram vinyl; a deluxe book package with a metal cover; an exclusive custom 8 GB metal razor blade USB drive pendant containing the full album; and a fold-out poster.

The full album score track list is as follows:
» "Immigrant Song" (Led Zeppelin cover) [ft. Karen O]
» "She Reminds Me of You"
» "People Lie All the Time"
» "Pinned and Mounted"
» "Perihelion"
» "What If We Could?"
» "With the Flies"
» "Hidden in Snow"
» "A Thousand Details"
» "One Particular Moment"
» "I Can't Take It Anymore"
» "How Brittle the Bones"
» "Please Take Your Hand Away"
» "Cut Into Pieces"
» "The Splinter"
» "An Itch"
» "Hypomania"
» "Under the Midnight Sun"
» "Aphelion"
» "You're Here"

Lady Gaga Doubles Up At Grammy Nominations Special

Gaga opens and closes the show, with an assist from country duo Sugarland.
By James Montgomery

Lady Gaga opens the "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!"
Photo: Lester Cohen/ WireImage

Anyone who has ever seen Lady Gaga is aware that she knows how to work a look. And on Wednesday's (November 30) "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!," she worked two of them, both about as different as could be.

As she announced earlier, Gaga served as both the opening and closing act during the telecast, and, of course, those two roles required two totally different sides of the Mother Monster. She started things off with a steampunk-y version of "Marry the Night," opening the song on a stage littered with smoking pipes and scattered bits of scrap metal. Her face done up like a skeleton (or perhaps Zombie Boy?), wearing a black cloak, she solemnly sang the song's opening lines, as a group of gothed-up dancers cavorted around her.

Take a closer look at this year's Grammy nominees through photos!

As the beat kicked in, she shed her cloak (revealing a sport coat, matching underwear set and, of course, thigh-high boots) and hit the harmonies hard, while guitars wailed and those dancers posed and popped. Then the whole thing gave way to a particularly fierce dance segment, which brought the performance to a close and earned a standing ovation from the industry-heavy crowd (David Guetta seemed particularly pumped, it should be noted).

And after the nominations were revealed, Gaga was back to wrap things up, and she did so in true Grammy style, joined onstage by country duo Sugarland for a husky, musky version of "Yoü and I." Seated at the piano, she traded verses (and a whole lot of suggestive glances) with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles. Gaga changed a couple of the song's lines — "With your high cowboy boots on," "Oh Sugarland, it's been six whole years" — to fit the occasion and pounded on the keys as the song built to a bluesy guitar solo from Sugarland's Kristian Bush.

The whole performance wound down with Gaga and Nettles swapping extended vocal runs, and as the audience gave them another standing O, the three embraced and laughed mid-stage. All in all, it was pretty much the kind of night we've come to expect from Gaga: She worked two seemingly disparate looks, brought together some equally disparate musical genres and, oh yeah, even picked up an Album of the Year nomination for Born This Way. And, as always, she made it look pretty effortless.

What did you think of Gaga's performance? Let us know in the comments!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will soon come to the Hollywood location of the Universal Studios theme park, according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal. An announcement is reportedly expected from NBCUniversal within a week.

Plans to expand the Los Angeles theme park are said to hew closely to the version already open in Orlando, Florida. The massive success of that park prompted plans for a second site, and the sources said that if the Hollywood iteration proves similarly lucrative, international sites such as Japan and Singapore could have their own recreations of the J.K. Rowling world.

In the year since the Florida edition of the park has been open, attendance has risen by more than 1 million visitors, bringing in more than $300 million.

Before any deal is cemented, however, Rowling most approve plans for a new theme park, as she did for the Wizarding World in Florida. There's no word yet on what attractions may be included in the new park but the buzz is that the new park would be an expansion of the already existing Universal Studios Hollywood and feature attractions similar to those in Orlando.

At the Wizard World of Harry Potter in Florida, visitors can experience a range of attractions designed to recreate the magical books and movies. The park includes several themed restaurants, shops — including Ollivander's, where wands are available for purchase — and rides, all decorated to look like the Hogwarts castle and the outlying village of Hogsmeade.

'Twilight' Tops Box Office For Third Consecutive Weekend

'Breaking Dawn - Part 1,' which has ruled the box office since its premiere, is followed by kids' flicks 'The Muppets' and 'Hugo.'

Four movies in, the "Twilight" franchise continues to achieve new "firsts." Over the weekend, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" became the first entry in the romantic vampires-and-werewolves series to maintain the top spot at the box office three weekends in a row.

"Breaking Dawn" collected another $16.9 million, easily besting the $11.2 million claimed by expected champion "The Muppets" during a soft post-Thanksgiving weekend. The latest numbers are the highest third-weekend gross of any "Twilight" film. However, the $247.3 million gross of "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is still behind where "New Moon" had landed after the same amount of time in theaters.

Unlike the critically reviled "Breaking Dawn," film reviewers have been overwhelmingly positive about "The Muppets." But the family-friendly film still declined 62 percent in its second weekend of release toward a total haul of $56.1 million. The franchise reboot of sorts will likely outgross "The Muppet Movie," but it has a less than slim chance of ever beating the 1979 film's attendance numbers.

Two more well-reviewed kid flicks made the box-office top five. Martin Scorsese's 3-D period piece "Hugo" was #3 with $7.6 million as it expanded from 1,277 theaters to 1,840. The filmmaker's first family film has made an estimated $25.2 million thus far. The animated "Arthur Christmas" was #4 with $7.4 million, which reflects a second-weekend drop of only 39 percent. That's the best post-Thanksgiving decline of any film since "Just Friends" in 2005. "Arthur" has made $25.3 million overall.

"Happy Feet Two" wasn't able to do anything to shake off its reputation as one of the year's biggest flops as it landed at #5 with $6 million. The animated sequel's $51.7 million gross is just 43 percent of what its predecessor made in the same period. And critics haven't been kind. "It's hard to resist dancing penguins, but 'Happy Feet Two' may make you want to try," the Los Angeles Times wrote.

In stark contrast to the teen-friendly "Twilight" sequel and the four family movies that comprise the top five, director Steve McQueen's sex addiction drama "Shame" enjoyed the third-highest debut ever for a limited NC-17-rated release (behind "Bad Education" and "Lust, Caution"). Playing at just 10 locations, "Shame" had the weekend's best per-screen averages on its way to collecting $361,000.

Next weekend's new releases will include director Garry Marshall's celebrity-filled follow-up to "Valentine's Day," "New Year's Eve"; a pair of R-rated comedies — Jonah Hill's "The Sitter" and Charlize Theron's "Young Adult"; and the well-reviewed Cold War espionage drama "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy," which stars Gary Oldman as George Smiley, the fictitious hero of British author John le Carré's spy novels.

The 2012 Grammy Nominees Revealed ... Possibly

Adele, Kanye West and more Grammy guesses, in Bigger Than the Sound.

On Wednesday night (November 30), CBS will officially kick off the self-congratulatory season with "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!," an emphatically titled extravaganza that not only features performances from some of music's biggest stars (Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Usher, etc.), but also boosts the network's burgeoning LL Cool J branch by something like 20 percent, since he's taking leave from "NCIS" duties to host the telecast.

Oh, and as the title implies, they'll also be unveiling a handful of Grammy nominees too, which means that, once again, it's time for me to blindly speculate on who will get the nods. After all, it was less than 10 months ago that acts like the Arcade Fire and Esperanza Spalding shocked the world — or at least Steve Stoute — by taking home half of the so-called "Big Four" Grammys, victories that seemed out of place in just about every conceivable way, especially when you realize Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and the Kings of Leon were the big winners at the previous year's show (though it should be noted people were still plenty mad about that too).

Combine that annual confusion with everything that goes on before the show — the addition of the so-called "Lady Gaga Rule," the subtraction of some 30 categories (farewell, Best Hawaiian Music Album) and the expansion (and subsequent contraction) of the Grammy eligibility period itself — and you can understand why trying to predict who will pick up nominations is nearly as impossible as attempting to figure out Herman Cain's taste in women.

Then again, perhaps this year is different. You'd have to be crazy to bet against Adele, who not only has the year's best-selling album and a pair of smash singles, but, as her previous Grammy wins prove, is exactly the kind of artist voters love. Katy Perry built off her Grammy noms last year by notching three #1 singles this year; Rihanna had two of her own. Lady Gaga sold 1.1 million albums in a week. Nicki Minaj broke through to the big time. Taylor Swift continued to be Taylor Swift. In short, 2011 was a year dominated by female artists, which means you can probably expect the same from the Grammy nominations too.

Then again, keep in mind there are a bunch of albums released last year that are eligible this year — efforts like Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Bruno Mars' Doo Wops & Hooligans — not to mention token old-dude releases by Tony Bennett and Paul Simon. And don't forget about country acts like Lady Antebellum and Jason Aldean. Or time-tested (Grammy-rich) rock outfits like Foo Fighters or Coldplay. Things aren't as cut-and-dried as you'd figure. These are the Grammys after all.

So here, without further ado, are my nomination predictions. And even though the Grammys cut back on categories, I'm just focusing on the Big Four: Album, Record and Song of the Year, plus Best New Artist. Cut me some slack — it's hard enough trying to sort through everyone who's even eligible.

Album of the Year
» Adele, 21
» Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
» Lady Gaga, Born This Way
» Taylor Swift, Speak Now
» Tony Bennett Duets II

Like I said, Adele is a mortal-friggin'-lock here (and just about everywhere else), and since Gaga's last two efforts picked up AOTY noms, I think Born This Way is a shoo-in too. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was a critical smash, and Kanye's been an AOTY nominee three times before, so pencil him in too. In a pinch, I'll take Taylor Swift and Tony Bennett in the last two slots, though they could easily go to Lady Antebellum's Own the Night and Simon's So Beautiful or So What, depending on the whims of Grammy voters. Having said all that, it wouldn't surprise me to see Doo Wops & Hooligans or the Foos' Wasting Light grab a nom either.

Record of the Year
» Adele, "Rolling in the Deep"
» Bruno Mars, "Grenade"
» Foster the People, "Pumped Up Kicks"
» Jason Aldean (featuring Kelly Clarkson), "Don't You Wanna Stay"
» Katy Perry, "Firework"

The award given to the artist, producer and mixer. Last year, Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" bested the likes of B.o.B, Jay-Z and Eminem to win it, so the voters like to mix it up here. "Rolling in the Deep" is a no-brainer, and Bruno Mars was nommed last year for his work on "Nothin' on You," so I think he gets a nod for "Grenade." Katy Perry's "Firework" has been pushed hard by her label, so voters will probably reward its success with a nomination. I have a sneaking suspicion Foster the People are this year's token left-field nom (taking their place alongside former nominees like M.I.A. and Gorillaz), and since he's performing at the aforementioned nominations concert (and because his song was such a hit), I'll give the final slot to Aldean. Other dark-horse candidates include Gaga's "Yoü and I," Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's "Moves Like Jagger," Coldplay's "Paradise" or even (pleasepleaseplease) Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass."

Song of the Year
» Adele, "Rolling in the Deep"
» Bruno Mars, "Grenade"
» Katy Perry, "Firework"
» Lady Gaga, "Yoü and I"
» Taylor Swift, "Back to December"

The award given to the actual songwriters. Generally speaking, Grammy voters like to get classy when it comes to nominees, which is why last year you saw folks like Ray LaMontagne and Miranda Lambert snag nods. I don't even have to tell you that "Rolling in the Deep" is the favorite, and I think Gaga gets a nod here too, since she was nominated for "Poker Face" a few years back and, well, "Yoü and I" just has a certain gravitas to it. Voters love Swift, which means they'll probably love her mature turn on "December" too. I'll give Mars and Perry the final slots here, since the former knows how to write a surefire smash and the latter (or, more specifically, her team of writers) dared to get inspirational with "Firework." Then again, you could remove either of them and put defending champs Lady Antebellum (they won this one too) in the mix for "Just a Kiss" or maybe Aldean. A super long shot is Minaj's "Super Bass," but stranger things have happened.

Best New Artist
» The Band Perry
» Bon Iver
» Ellie Goulding
» Foster the People
» Nicki Minaj

Ah, Best New Artist — where "new" is a relative term. You've probably noticed I keep mentioning Nicki Minaj, who may get shut out of Record and Song of the Year, but seems like a lock to get nommed here (she probably won't win, though). Foster the People seem like sure bets too, as do the Band Perry, who fill the token country slot. My last two picks — eh, I'm basically just guessing, though Bon Iver's album sold surprisingly well and was a critical darling, and Ellie Goulding is, uh, British, and given that both Adele and Amy Winehouse won BNA previously, that may be enough to get her in. Other choices: the other Brit, Jessie J; the other country act, the Civil Wars; pop-meisters Hot Chelle Rae; singer/songwriter Christina Perri; or pintsize "America's Got Talent" runner-up Jackie Evancho.

Anne Hathaway's Kennedy Center Honors Weekend

Gearing up for what's set to be a grand night in the nation's capital, Anne Hathaway glammed up the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C. on Saturday evening (December 3).

The Oscar-winning actress was clad in a floor-length black strapless Giambattista Valli gown from the resort 2012 collection while joined by fiance Adam Shulman at a reception dinner for the Kennedy Center Honorees.

Spotted early the next morning (December 4) at the Kennedy Center for rehearsals, Anne is lined up to present Meryl Streep as one of the five illustrious recipients of the prestigious accolade bestowed by the event's host, President Barack Obama.

Meanwhile, Miss Streep recently commented on Hathaway's engagement to Shulman while at "A Magical Evening to benefit the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation," saying, "Oh, isn't that great! I wish she were here tonight because I know she would support the Reeve foundation. This is a really, really wonderful organization helping people with spinal-cord injuries."

Lady Gaga 'Doing Prep' For Tour, Next Album

'She's always doing 25,000 things in a row,' DJ White Shadow tells MTV News of Gaga's 2012 plans.

Lady Gaga is hard at work. The Mother Monster is already coming up with ideas for 2012's Born This Way Tour and even thinking about her next album. When MTV News caught up with pal and musical collaborator DJ White Shadow, he talked about what the Haus has in store for Gaga.

"She's doing prep for the next round of touring, and she's always doing 25,000 things in a row," he told MTV News last week when he stopped by to chat about the opening of Gaga's pop-up holiday shop at Barneys. "But I think the main focus for her after this season is going to be prepping up for the show, touring new songs for the record."

Gaga has hinted that she'd like to get Elton John on this next record, but, right now, anything goes. White Shadow — who has worked with Gaga extensively on Born This Way, including on the tracks "Born This Way" and "Americano" — is ready to drop everything to collaborate with Gaga again.

"I want to try and be as close to it as possible, that way I don't have to wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning and fly to L.A. or wherever or Japan or wherever she's starting to do stuff," he explained. "Maybe when the tour starts, she's working all the time. I send her stuff and she sends stuff. She's always working on something. It just depends. I know she likes to write when she's on the road, [so maybe she'll make a] new album during the tour."

Given the pair's track record, expect across-the-board sounds on the next project. "The kind of stuff that I send her, some of it is so crazy that I don't know what you'd call it," he said. "When I make stuff ... I know what's for her and what's not for her. Some of it's structured as songs and some of it is structured as madness, and she goes through it like a gold miner."

What are you expecting from Gaga's next album? Let us know in the comments below!

Situated in the runner-up slot is the family friendly tale "The Muppets," which scored $2.7 million on Friday while trending towards an approximate $11 million weekend take.
