Lady Gaga Won't Tone Down Indonesian Concert Despite Protests
Gaga's manager says if show goes on, it will be played 'as it is,' despite threats of violence from Islamic groups in Jakarta.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s June 3 concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, has already drawn protests — and <a href="/news/articles/1685564/lady-gaga-islam-threat-indonesia-concert.jhtml">threats of violence</a> — from Islamic groups within the nation, who say her risqué <i>Born This Way</i> Ball promotes promiscuity and homosexuality. But according to Gaga's manager, she has no plans to tone down her act.</P><P>While speaking at the annual Music Matters conference in Singapore on Thursday, Troy Carter addressed the ongoing controversy over the June 3 concert, saying that Gaga would not bow to pressure and perform a censored version of the show.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Will Bring a 'Personal' Touch To 'Born This Way' Tour" id="vid:717952" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"We play the show as it is, it's a very specific show to a very specific audience," Carter said, according to <a href="http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Lifestyle/Story/STIStory_802570.html" target="_blank">Singapore's <i>Straits Times</i> newspaper</a>. "Truth be told, she's not up there nude, she's not doing anything provocative for the sake of being provocative."</P><P>Early reports had <a href="/news/articles/1685092/lady-gaga-cancels-show-indonesia.jhtml">Gaga canceling the show</a> at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium after Indonesia's national police denied her a permit, citing concerns over threats from Islamic hard-liners and the nature of Gaga's performance. Gaga herself addressed the issue earlier this week via Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/204810085438984192" target="_blank">explaining</a>, "The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremists separately are threatening violence. ... If the show goes on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWB alone."</P><P>Indonesian police demand that before a permit can be issued, promoters for the show must ensure Gaga is "dressed appropriately and does not violate the cultural norms in this country," according to the <i>Agence France-Presse</i> news service. And several of the country's top Islamic groups, including the National Ulema Council and the more militant Islamic Defenders Front, have protested her performance, calling it "blasphemous" and threatening to "create havoc" if the concert goes ahead as planned.</P><P>During his Music Matters speech, Carter said that he was still in negotiations with the Indonesian police in the hopes of obtaining a permit for the show. He added that at this time he does not know whether the concert will take place as scheduled.</p>

Miss USA 2012 Judges Announced
Judges for the Miss USA 2012 pageant have been announced and all I can say is it is a very interesting list. Yep there are names you wouldn?t necessarily expect to be judging the show. The infamous pageant run by Donald Trump has chosen Rob Kardashian, Joe Jonas, Fashion Police co-host George Kotsiopoulos and former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky. I told you the names were not people you would normally expect and I have to wonder where in the world did the powers that be that run the pageant come up with these judges. I totally get George and Ali but Rob and Joe are kind of random if you ask me. Jonas, Kardashian, Fedotowsky and Kotsiopoulos will judge the lovely ladies in the pageant on swimsuit, evening gown and of course the personal interview portion. These four hold the fate of who is crowned Miss USA in their hands and I gotta say I don?t have much confidence in these guys. However that doesn?t necessarily mean they will suck but we can all find out just how well Rob, Joe, Ali and George do as judges on June 3rd in Las Vegas on NBC of course. Miranda Cosgrove plans to attend college this fall after she wraps up shooting the final season of her hit Nickelodeon show "iCarly." Cosgrove felt that at 19, it's the right time to take on some new experiences and live life as a headlines back in 2009. She eventually left when she realized that her life as a celebrity was very different than that of the other students there. "I was in denial," Watson told Britain's in 2011 shortly after deciding to leave. "I wanted to pretend I wasn't as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I'm in and what happened."

Mischa Barton's Handbag Shop Aspirations
Cashing in on some retail therapy, Mischa Barton was spotted enjoying the weather while out and about shopping with a male friend in Primrose Hill, North London on Thursday (May 24).
The former "O.C." actress wore a plunging leather dress with dark brown boots as she carried a bag from the London antique shop Judith Michael & Daughter.
The outing comes as Mischa is slowly trying to get her career back on track while she prepares to open a store in London for her handbags at the end of this month.
Of the business aspirations, the 26-year-old recently talked about her design career with the New York-based Twelv magazine as she graced their first issue.
Talking about what we can expect to see in her store, Mischa dished, "It?s just for the handbags. And I?m doing makeup as well, which I?m really proud of. The makeup is really great?that?s to round out the store? because the idea behind the store was sort of ?70s Biba-esque thing. I wanted it to be almost a vibe, a hangout."

Exclusive: Drake Has A 'Good' Feeling About Justin Bieber Collabo
Toronto MC talks up the Believe track 'Right Here' and details his plans to hit the studio after his Club Paradise Tour.

Drake has a jam-packed schedule taking his Club Paradise Tour city to city, but the Toronto rap star still manages to find time to record, especially since he has a studio on his tour bus. Right after Club Paradise's last show in Boston, Massachusetts, Drizzy will begin recording new music, possibly for his next album.
"I'm really excited to start working on new music. I start like June 18," Drake told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway when the two met backstage in Houston on May 17.
"I got a studio bus out here so me and 40 started working on a couple joints the other night. Just getting warmed up," he continued. "I did like the 'Amen' track for Meek [Mill] and I did 'No Lie' for 2Chainz."
Fans have already raved over Drizzy's performance on both "No Lie" and "Amen," which appears on the Philadelphia MC's recently released Dream Chasers 2 mixtape. Still, the Young Money star has a few more collaborations that fans will hear in the coming weeks, one of them being French Montana's "Pop That."
"I'm on French Montana's single; me, him, Ross and Wayne, which is a crazy lineup," Drake said. "And then on Justin Bieber's record. I wrote a song for him as well."
At the time of the interview, Drake wasn't sure of the name of the Bieber record or if the song would even be included on Justin's upcoming Believe LP. "Awkward Justin Bieber moment," Drizzy joked after pondering the very slim chance that he wouldn't make the final cut. "Yeah, we'll see. It's a good song though; produced by Hit-Boy."
Well, Drake doesn't have to worry. On Monday, the Biebs unveiled his Believe track list, and his fellow Canadian does appear on the song "Right Here." We have no reason to doubt Drake's word about "Right Here," but we'll all will just have to wait until June 19 when Believe is released to finally hear it.

Phillip Phillips Has 'American Idol' In The Bag, Experts Say
'The show exists to find the next cute white guy with a guitar,' says Richard Rushfield, author of 'American Idol: The Untold Story.'

Even if she hadn't been saddled with what is possibly the worst "American Idol" finalist song in the show's history, the chances of Jessica Sanchez beating Phillip Phillips seemed slim.
The guitar-strumming, foot-swiveling, five-o'clock-shadow-having Dave Matthews doppelgänger was many critics' early pick to continue the recent trend of cute white boys who strum guitars winning the crown. So MTV News asked some of our favorite "Idol" experts to place their bets on who will be dusting confetti out of their hair when Ryan Seacrest reads the final results Wednesday night (May 23) and, well, it was (almost) unanimous.
"I think she came into the night with approximately zero percent chance of winning, and I don't think that song changed that," said "American Idol: The Untold Story" author Richard Rushfield when asked if Sanchez's last-ditch chance to win was ruined by the treacly pop ballad "Change Nothing." "I think she was doomed from the start. After the top 24 was unveiled, I tweeted a congratulation to Phillip Phillips for winning 'American Idol' season 11, and every week since, I've tweeted the same."
Rushfield said this season gave him no reason to doubt that Phillips would continue the "cute white boy dynasty," because, at this point, it would take something "monumental" to change that, and Sanchez wasn't it. "If something happens five times, you can assume it will happen 20 times," he said.
Longtime "Idol" blogger MJ Santilli sighed and checked the box marked "Phillip" as well, though she wasn't enthused about doing it. "It's just become predictable that there's a certain sort of winner," she said. "Maybe we need someone a little different. ... If Jessica had come out and really killed all three of her songs, she might have had a chance to grab the casual viewers who turn in for the last few weeks, but she really had an uphill battle."
The dissenting opinion came from TVLine.com "Idol" recapper Michael Slezak, who said he was pretty confident of a Sanchez victory. "Phil won the night [on Tuesday], but I think she has a slight edge on him for the season. I think he had a bit of a rocky road through his 'Idol' journey, and somewhere between the top-nine week and the top-four week, he wasn't performing like an 'Idol' winner should."
Even though Phillips came on strong the past few weeks — and Sanchez was almost booted before the judges saved her in week seven — Slezak said she pulled it back together and ended the season with some of her strongest performances. "There's still a cosmic price to pay [for Phillip] for what happened midseason."
Former MTV News "Idol in 60 Seconds" star Jim Cantiello also predicted Phil would win way back in January, but he thinks show creator Simon Fuller's song choice on Tuesday night's show sealed the deal. "That set the tone, and to give Jessica a song that been covered so many times on 'Idol' [Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing'] seemed like a slap in the face," he said. "And to give Phil a song only three people have sung before [Ben E. King's 'Stand by Me'] ... it just set up Phil to do his thing."
Cantiello said if Sanchez hadn't gotten eliminated and saved, then there's a part of him that thinks she might have a shot at an upset. "But [Phillip] was never even in the bottom, let alone getting voted off once."

'Breaking Bad' Coming Back July 15
Final season starts with eight new episodes this summer and ends with eight more next summer.

AMC announced its summer programming lineup Monday (May 21), and the highlight is undoubtedly the news that we'll be seeing Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) sooner rather than later. The expectedly explosive fifth and final season of "Breaking Bad" will premiere Sunday, July 15, at 10 p.m., starting with eight all-new episodes and ending with eight more next summer.
The highly anticipated news has been met with ecstatic reactions among the show's obsessive fanbase, particularly via a few dedicated celebrity fans like "Parks and Recreation" star and general funnyman Aziz Ansari.
"BREAKING BAD IS BACK JULY 15TH! F--- YES," he tweeted, an enthusiastic reaction that fellow fan John Legend shared and then expressed with a retweet of Ansari's excited sentiments.
Aside from the news about the premiere date, we don't know a whole lot about the final season of the Emmy-winning drama. We know it will be 16 episodes long, split into eight-episode runs with the second half airing in summer 2013, and we know that Walter White went darker than ever before at the end of season four. In addition, we got a nice video teaser of what to expect from the plot via the stars themselves recently, which included some thoughtful and crafty hints from Aaron Paul. All signals point to the fact that the show will not disappoint with regard to the "dark" and "dangerous" factors, and we wouldn't expect anything less.
In addition to the "Breaking Bad" news, AMC also announced the debut of its newest unscripted series, "Small Town Security," on Sunday, July 15, at 11 p.m. ET and the season-two premiere of the epic western "Hell on Wheels" Sunday, August 12, at 9 p.m. ET.

Laurieann Gibson Plots 'Super Dope' Music Career With 'Last Chance'
Onetime Lady Gaga collaborator talks to MTV News about how she went from behind the scenes to center stage.

Laurieann Gibson has worked with artists like onetime muse Lady Gaga and current inspiration Nicki Minaj, helping the pop princesses craft stage spectacles and killer dance routines. But, having spent the last chapter of her career shaping the careers of other artists, the former Fly Girl feels now is the time for her to move from behind the shadows and kick-start her own music career.
"When I began to choreograph and find my way pulling other artists' dreams out and changing music in a visual way, there was still a part of me that had something more to say," she told MTV News about working on her solo album. "There was still a desire to rock a stage and ultimately perform the eight count of my dream, but there was a lot of insecurity there."
It wasn't until last year, however, that she found the strength to hit the studio for this album. And she channeled all of those feelings into her music, including her lead single, the dance-floor anthem "Last Chance." "I put that into the album, into the lyrical content and I'm really proud of what is coming out of the studio," she said.
Gibson said she started working on the album after wrapping up her E! show "Born to Dance" and directing Gaga's video for "Yoü and I." "It took a lot out of me creatively and after basically doing a lot visually and looking for another artist to spring board what was inside of me, the reality of 'How can I move something bigger than what I was doing?' It kept coming back to my own self."
Therefore she enlisted folks that she felt could help shape her vision. "[It was about] the own lyrical content, the desire to not necessarily work with a lot of my friends, the top producers and approach the album like that," she said. "So on my team I was working with DeMarco Webster, who has been working with me for a long time too, to independently A&R this vision that we had."
When they added songwriters Infared Ink to the mix, the album began to take shape. "I realized that, for me, great records always moved me with the lyrics and the melodies," she said. "And so I said, 'I think I can do it now,' 'cause I found a team of people who understand I didn't want a record that was 'drop it, pop it, shake it' just 'cause I can dance. We really made the album the old-school way. They watched me fight against the adversity and they learned to take my experience and my lingo and my language and we wrote an album that was really personal [to me]... it's really a super dope project."
