KERRY WASHINGTON Keeping Her Baby Bump Chic On ?Scandal?

Are you a ‘Scandal’ fan? If you are, then I take it you’ve heard about ABC’s decision to trim the current season of ‘Scandal’ by four episodes, according to Entertainment Weekly. This is often a bad sign, but not for this show: the ratings are still great. Although no reason was given for the shortened […]

Ashanti Gets BRAVE(HEART) About Nelly, Critics, & PETA At NYC Listening Party (Exclusive Interview!)

 photo ashsinging2_zps9fd306a7.jpg

She may not have dropped a studio album since 2008, but the people (us included) still give a damn about what Ashanti's doing.  And she's grateful for it.  Check out pics and TheYBF.com's chit chat with the "I Got It" singer about Nelly and more from her listening party in NYC...

Last night at Jungle City Studios, which is owned by Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz, Ashanti played her BRAVEHEART album--and sang along a bit--during an intimate listening session.   TheYBF.com was on hand to see if she's still got it.  And if you're an Ashanti fan, you probably won't be disappointed.

 photo ashsinging5_zps80dc80c2.jpg

Since she's nursing a hairline fracture in her ankle after falling down in a club during the Holidays (that explains that Swarovski cystal pimp cane she's been toting around!), full length pics weren't allowed.  But you get the gist of her cute look nonetheless.  With her Momager Tina Douglas and little sis Shia on deck as usual, Ashanti gave the room a listen to her first album in six years (due out March 4th).

Afterwards, YBF Correspondent Shirley Vernae chatted with actress/singer about how Nelly plays into her life right now (via her music) and more.

On the struggle to remain relevant

"Having not put out a record since 2008, and still competing against a bunch of my peers, is a blessing and I'm really grateful for it.  Being an artist this day in age and having the public and the BLOGS critique you and judge you without knowing facts, you have to be brave and strong.  You have to be strong internally."

On her rumored break-ups to makeups with rapper Nelly

"Did Nelly inspire some records?  Absolutely.  It's just about being real, being honest and being brave.  Writing about what I really felt and what I really went through.  Yeah, he was part of it."

"I switched the subject [when asked on "106 & Park" the previous night] because he's doing him and I'm doing me, it's about Braveheart.   If you want to find out what's going on with me and him, get the album on iTunes.  Right now.  March 4th."

On turning down major label offers and going independent

"To be completely honest, I couldn't fathom the idea of a 360 deal.  I walked away from 7 offers from majors.  At the time, the ink was over here.  And it was just me.  But this time, I get to be the Captain of the ship.  Regardless of whatever happens, I'm happy about the music."

On those major furs she and Diddy (and Nelly) were rocking Super Bowl weekend

"I respect PETA.  I really do. They are so passionate and I really do respect them for what they do.  And I really DON'T want them to come for me!"

First Lady Michelle Obama GETS GORGE In CAROLINA HERRERA For White House State Dinner, Mary J Blige & More Attend

 photo article-2556862-1B67B23100000578-266_964x712_zps9be0ae1a.jpg

Tuesday night was the big White House State Dinner honoring French President Francois Hollande.  And even though Hollande is currently embroiled in his second "alleged" affair that's being exposed in French tabloids, everyone carried on with eating, drinking and being merry.

But forget the French President's reported affair, get into First Lady Michelle Obama's stunning Carolina Herrera look inside...

While welcoming French President Francois Hollande to the North Protico of the White House for Tuesday night's State Dinner, Mrs. O looked amazing in a powder blue and dark navy lace Carolina Herrera number.  She paired her look with blue and diamond Sutra earrings, and Mr. President seemed to love what he saw:

They sandwiched in Hollande at the dinner table, and reportedly cancelled the traditional evening dance--since their guest of honor was flying solo for the evening.

And plenty of celebs nabbed White House invites for the big State Dinner as well, including lady in red Mary J. Blige.  And her husband Kendu.  Other lucky attendees: Bradley Cooper, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stephen Colbert, Mindy Kaling, Jason Collins and more.

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Sometimes Feeling 'Worthless'

Singer discusses being bullied as a child and her plan not to speak to the media 'for a very long time' on 'Oprah's Next Chapter.'
By Jocelyn Vena

She explained that the foundation seeks to empower the youth of America, adding, "How can we inspire young people to know they have the power to be brave?"</p>

Erykah Badu & Riccardo Tisci On Their GIVENCHY Collaboration, "We Belong To Each Other" + K. Michelle's "Can't Raise A Man" (VIDEO)

 photo ebadusj.png

Erykah Badu and Riccado Tisco discuss fashion and music in the latest issue of V Magazine.  See highlights from the interview inside and watch K. Michelle's latest video inside....

As previously reported, Riccardo Tisci of GIVENCHY selected madame flyness Erykah Badu as his muse for the Spring campaign.  And in V Magazine, the two sat down and discuss their work together and how music and fashion connect.

V Erykah, did you know Riccardo before you got the call to appear in the ads?

ERYKAH BADU I just got a call from him. There’s not a big backstory to it. Unless you want to include that I’m a big fan of his work.

RICCARDO TISCI I knew her as a musician and an artist. And she is a real artist. We had crossed paths before once in New York but never really knew each other. I asked her and she said yes. I was very, very happy. I wanted to represent the collection with style and elegance and I think she is perfect for that.

V In addition to being an incredible artist, you’re also quite a fashion magpie. Are clothes another mode of expression for you?

EB It’s all art to me. I just really enjoy expressing myself artistically in any genre. Whether it be music or cooking or hair. Costume, makeup, fashion. It’s just fun exploring all of the little things inside of my head and seeing them manifest. I would liken fashion or styling to putting a lump of clay in the middle of the table and carving away. And there’s something underneath. Layering and silhouettes. A pair of earrings. I think it comes down to my favorite things and how they come together. That’s fun when that happens.

RT And this is one of the great things that drew me to Erykah. Aside from being quite talented, and the queen of the ’90s. I was thinking of someone who was quite elegant and urban. She’s always been this way. She has a very good sense of style, she’s great with jewelry. Her look can be quite feminine with the turban and a dress but also masculine with flat shoes or trainers. It all works.

V There have been a few musicians—Rihanna, Miley, Gaga—appearing in fashion campaigns this year. Why do you think that is?

EB I think that we keep each other moving creatively, especially those that have been in this game awhile. To see our fellow artists like Riccardo and Donatella choose musicians only shows that we are all connected. My creative song is married to Riccardo’s creative eye, perhaps because I can sing a lot of songs about these designs and ideas that he has. I think it’s just the spirit of where we are as a whole tribe of humans. Visual expresses music expresses theme expresses theory. Everything goes together to more broadly express what the artist is trying to say. There’s no way I can express what I’m trying to say without the help of some visual artist completing my sentences. I think right now we’re completing each other’s sentences, artistically.
