'Dumb And Dumber To' Won't Happen Without Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels Says

'Nobody's doing it without Jim,' Daniels tells MTV News after Carrey's reps announced he left the proposed sequel.

Jim Carrey's reps confirmed on Wednesday that he has left the proposed "Dumb and Dumber" sequel, the cleverly titled "Dumb and Dumber To," due to a conflict with the studios, New Line and Warner Bros.

Later that day, MTV News spokes with Carrey's co-star from the original, Jeff Daniels, as he walked the red carpet for his upcoming HBO series, Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom."

Daniels' answer was succinct and confirmed what many feared would be the implication of Carrey's departure. "No, nobody's doing it without Jim," he said.

As "Entertainment Tonight" had previously reported, Carrey exited the sequel to the Farrelly Brothers' follow-up to the 1994 comedy because New Line and Warner Bros. did not care enough about the project.

"According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project," "ET" claimed.

When the entertainment show reached out to Carrey's representation, they confirmed the departure and delivered a statement from the actor himself. "I would have thought 'Dumb and Dumber To' was a no-brainer," he said. "After all, it's implied in the title."

Daniels' insistence that a sequel would not happen without Carrey's involvement should not come as a surprise. The main draw of "Dumb and Dumber To" was that it would reunite the stars of the beloved movie for the first time.

"Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd," a prequel to the original that featured none of the original's key players, bombed at the box office in 2003.

'Transformers 4' Will Feature 'New Cast,' Space Setting

Director Michael Bay speaks out on his plans for his fourth and final round with the robots in disguise.

When "Transformers" revs up for its fourth big-screen adventure, you'll see plenty of familiar faces along for the ride: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee. ... But there won't be a single human character from the old guard. Unless, of course, you count director Michael Bay.

"It's a new cast," the director matter-of-factly told the Los Angeles Times about his plans for "Transformers 4," which will not feature Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky at all. "We're moving on to something different."

"It's not a reboot, that's maybe the wrong word," Bay added. "I don't want to say reboot because then people will think we're doing a Spider-Man and starting from the beginning. We're not. We're taking the story that you've seen &8212; the story we've told in three movies already &8212; and we're taking it in a new direction. But we're leaving those three as the history. It all still counts. I met with the writer before I went off to do 'Pain and Gain' and we talked about a bunch of ideas. We let that simmer for a bit. He's been thinking about stuff and now we're getting back together next week to see what we've got and to see if it gels."

One of the new ideas that Bay has cooked up: the possibility of bringing the Autobots and Decepticons to outer space.

"I think so, yeah, a little," he said when asked if the fourth film would go off-planet. "That feels like the way to go, doesn't it? I want to go a little off, but I don't want to go too sci-fi. I still want to keep it grounded. That's what works in these movies, that's what makes it accessible."

Bay said that "Transformers 4," which will have a smaller budget than its predecessors by "about $30 million," will be his final ride with Prime and pals. He's said as much in the past, of course — but this time, Bay insists that he means business.

"Here's the thing, it's tough to find someone who's done these kind of movies and to have the complication of creating the new stuff that needs to be in this movie — not just characters but a new type of action, I hope — and that's a lot for someone new to bite off," said the director. "And so after this one I will leave it in the best hands possible. That's the plan."

On the big screen.</P><P>According to <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/beyonce-colin-farrell-josh-hutcherson-amanda-seyfried-steven-tyler-lead-voice-cast-for-fox-animated-film-epic/" target="_blank">Deadline.com</a>, Beyonc&#233; has been cast as Queen Tara in the upcoming 3-D, CGI-animated film "Epic," a 20th Century Fox film from the makers of the hits "Ice Age" and "Rio."</P><P>The film reportedly tells the tale of a teenage girl transported to a secret universe, where she finds herself dropped square in the middle of a battle between the forces of good and evil. She joins forces with "a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters" to save the world. "Epic" is slated to hit theaters on May 24, 2013.</P><P>It's the first confirmed role for Beyonc&#233; since she took time off for maternity leave, though she's also slated to star in the Clint Eastwood-directed remake of "A Star Is Born."</P><P>Starring alongside Bey in the movie are the likes of Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried, Aziz Ansari and a pair of her fellow musicians, Pitbull and Aerosmith frontman/"American Idol" judge Steven Tyler. Johnny Knoxville, Jason Sudeikis and Judah Friedlander round out the cast.</P><P>Josh Hutcherson is also set to appear alongside Beyonc&#233; in the film. Britney Spears Ignites Crowd In 'X Factor' Audio Leak

<P>When "The X Factor" producers announced that they were adding Britney Spears to the judges' panel, experts and viewers wondered whether she would have what it takes to sit alongside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid to dole out advice to bright-eyed singers. But from the sounds of audio leaked to <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2012/05/24/britney-spears-x-factor-demi-lovato/">TMZ</a> from the first round of auditions, it seems that the audience thinks Spears will do just fine.</P><P>After months of speculation, <a href="/news/articles/1684813/britney-spears-x-factor-judge.jhtml">Spears was officially added to the "X Factor"</a> judges' panel in May for a cool $15 million per season. While the show doesn't premiere until September, audio leaked Thursday (May 24) from auditions in Austin, Texas, give us a taste of what we'll be in for come fall. In the clip, Spears and fellow newbie Demi Lovato give differing critiques to a young male contestant.</P><P>"I think that you have a great voice and your tone was great," 19-year-old Lovato told the contestant. "But, I don't really know where you fit. I don't know what's going to set you apart from other musicians who are boys. So, I think you just have to find out what makes you special and what separates you from all the other teenage boys in this industry."</P><P>Britney, on the other hand, had a some kinder words for the amateur singer. "I think you can be bigger than the next Justin Bieber," Spears said, eliciting a rambunctious response from the crowd.</P><P>"I feel like your runs are amazing," she added. "And I do feel like with a little more training, you could actually [inaudible] better presentation, but I see what's there. And you're very gifted. Trae Tha Truth In 'Pain' After Death Of Dinky D

Houston MC is 'grateful to be livin' ' after a shooting that left his friend dead at the scene.

Trae tha Truth is on the mend after being shot early Wednesday morning, but the Houston rapper is more hurt by the death of his friend Dinky D.

On Wednesday, Trae tweeted "I Appreciate All Tha Prayers, Calls, & Luv.. I'm Ok ... I'm On The Road To Recovery... I Love Y'all..... #Amen," but on Thursday (June 21), he began to express his grief.

"Sitting Here Thinking & Being Greatful To Be Livin... But Can't explain Tha Pain Felt For Those Who Died #GodBlessTheDead ...," he wrote. "I done been through hell and back these last 3 years..& Thinking of Dinky Fighting for his last breath knowin nothing can be done... Damn."

Houston's self-proclaimed "King of the Streets" was rushed to the hospital and treated for his gunshot wound on Wednesday morning following a shootout at an after-hours club in Southwest Houston. While Trae has since been treated and released, three victims, including ABN crew member Dinky D and affiliate Poppa C, died at the scene.

"The injury that Trae Tha Truth sustained last evening in the form of a gun shot wound at Scores Night Club in Houston, TX, does not nearly compare to the wound he feels in his heart for the lives that were lost," read a press release that was sent to MTV News on behalf of the MC.

The shooting has not only affected family and friends but the Texas rap community as well. "RIP Dinky D and Poppa c," Bun B tweeted on Wednesday. Slim Thug followed with his own message. "Im just waking up hearing all this, we was all together yesterday prayers out to the whole #ABN I can't believe Dinky died #RIP Dinky."

Trae's press release urged that the rapper was not the intended target. "This shooting is nothing more than an extremely unfortunate incident in which Trae also fell victim to a random act of violence; the same act that Trae tirelessly attempts to prevent and protect Houston citizens through his 501(c)3 non profit organization, Angel By Nature," the statement read.

In an interview with XXLMag.com, Trae painted a picture for the horrific incident. "I'm not sure exactly what the altercation was necessarily about, but long story short, whatever transpired, they ran in my direction, so in the process of running in my direction, that kind of had everybody in the open," he said. "So as the altercation came my way, shots were being dispersed, but since it was coming our direction, it was a crowd of people. Everybody was wrong place, wrong time."

The death of Trae's close friend Clip D last November weighed heavily on the rapper. "I kinda went back in a shell. I got back in that zone where it was F the world, I didn't want to be bothered, I didn't want to look at nobody," Trae told Mixtape Daily during a February interview in Orlando, Florida.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

Robert Pattinson's El Rey Night Out

Not a fan of the cameras on this particular night, Robert Pattinson was spotted making his way out of the El Rey Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday (June 20).

The "Twilight" hunk appeared a bit tipsy as he followed security staffers while navigating through the throngs of photogs and out to the car.

The sighting comes as Rob is gearing up for the August release of his new movie "Cosmopolis".

Of the effort, he recently told press, "The first time I saw it, I didn't think about the greater scope of the movie, and then I heard people's reactions about things like nihilism and things like that. I think it's actually a really hopeful movie. I think in a lot of ways, when I look at the world - maybe I am just a depressive - I think sometimes the world does need to be washed and cleansed, and that's the hope of it."

Of Pattinson's character being compared to his Edward Cullen vampire role, director David Cronenberg dished, "We just didn't deal with it. It is very easy to say that this character is a vampire or a werewolf of Wall Street, but that is fairly superficial. He is a real person and a real character in the movie. An actor cannot play an abstract concept; you cannot say to an actor ?You are the symbol of capitalism, I want you to play that' How do you play that? "This is a real person with a history and a past, which is not 'Twilight'. It is 'Cosmopolis'. You must ignore the baggage. You know it exists, but you are creating a new thing and you have to forget all that stuff and we do because it would give us nothing on the set."

How Laura Jane Grace Came Out To Against Me!

Against Me! speak for the first time since Laura's Rolling Stone interview, remembering the 'simple' way she told them she's transgender.

When Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace announced in Rolling Stone that she was transgender, the majority of the story focused on her life ... with only a few paragraphs dedicated to how she broke the news to her bandmates.

This was understandable, of course, and though the details included in that RS story are scarce, they're also incredibly endearing: On the drive from Laura's St. Augustine, Florida, studio back to their homes in Gainesville, the AM! guys debated whether or not they needed to hit the gym "so that if anyone messed with [her], they'd be able to throw down."

But, when Against Me! sat down with MTV News for their first interview since the Rolling Stone piece shone a spotlight on their band, they revealed that there was another reason the story skimped on particulars about Laura's big revelation: Namely, to them, it wasn't really all that big of a revelation to begin with.

"We went to the studio just to hang out, we weren't even practicing, we were just having a meeting, and talking, and she just told us," longtime bassist Andrew Seward said. "It was kind of simple in a way ... [and then] on the drive back, because it's 80 miles from the studio back to Gainesville, I was just going through past lyrics and stuff going 'God, how did I not think of that?' "

"I didn't want to be melodramatic about it when approaching friends ... for me, it is a non-issue. It's something that's always been there for me, I've just never verbalized it before," Laura added. "I didn't really plan on it, I forget what exactly we were talking about, but I got to this point where I felt really frustrated that I wasn't making the point I wanted to make, and I realized I wasn't making it because I wasn't fully explaining myself, and the part I was leaving out was this big integral piece of myself. So it just came out of my mouth, you know, and we were just sitting there and it was like, 'So this is the way it is.' "

Still, Laura admitted she had no idea how her bandmates would take the news, or even if they'd still be her bandmates after she told them. All she knew was that, both personally and professionally, she was tired of keeping secrets ... she wanted everyone to know she was transgender, repercussions be damned.

"I reached a point for myself where writing, I couldn't focus on anything else but writing from a trans perspective or writing about trans issues, and as the album we're working on came together, it became more and more apparent to me that, at some point, I was going to have to say something to the rest of the band," she said. "Otherwise, if you're taking the lyrics to these songs out of context [they're] going to be misinterpreted ... so we kind of reached that point where once we started getting in to doing vocals and you're hearing the lyrics I was like, 'OK, this is the deal. ... There are going to be things that are going to be happening for me that, if I don't tell you this right now will probably look more like I'm insane as opposed to this is what I'm doing.' "

And yet, no one did. And, after being assured by her bandmates that Against Me! wasn't going anywhere — "It was just kind of like, 'Let's still do the band; let's still do everything we normally do.' That's pretty much the extent of it," drummer Jay Weinberg said — they're hard at work on their new album; a conceptual record they're calling Transgender Dysphoria Blues. It represents Laura's most personal work to date, an exploration of her battles with shame and depression, and the freedom of her new life. And, with her band backing her, she can't wait to bring the music to the masses.

"For me, the fear was, if I don't do this and I don't come out with this now, that the band can't go on. It was just feeling like this is what I need in order to continue to be doing this," she said. "Feeling like you're stereotyped into this role of an angry young male, especially in the punk rock scene, was just suffocating to me ... And feeling like so many of the things I was trying to express in my lyrics were being lost on people because it wasn't being framed in the right context, I didn't even want to do it anymore. ... But now, I do."

Pink Announces Cheeky New Single

Pink likes to have fun when it comes to her music, and her brand-new single's title once again shows her love for all things cheeky.

The singer used a video message to announce her forthcoming new track, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." "Hi, world! I've got an announcement to make. My new single, off my new record, off my new life, is called 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' and it's very exciting," she said in the short clip. "And I wrote it with Greg Kurstin, who is amazing. And we had an incredible time. [My daughter] Willow played bells and bass on a couple of other songs, but I think you're really gonna like it 'cause I really like it and I like it enough for all of us. See you soon!"

Kurstin has recently worked with the Wanted, Kelly Clarkson and Foster the People. Billboard.com reports that the song will hit the streets on July 9, with Pink's next studio album dropping later in the year. It marks her first full-length studio release since 2008's Funhouse, which launched such hits as "So What," "Sober" and "Please Don't Leave Me." She followed up that release with a greatest-hits compilation in late 2010, the aptly titled Greatest Hits ... So Far!!! In fact, the album helped the singer get some more greatest hits thanks to the success of its two singles, "Raise Your Glass" and "F---in' Perfect."

In addition to announcing her single plans, Pink also tweeted a candid shot of herself (with baby Willow) in between shots from her photo shoot for the album, teasing her new music's impending release.

Gaga herself addressed the issue earlier this week via Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/204810085438984192" target="_blank">explaining</a>, "The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show &amp; religious extremists separately are threatening violence. ... If the show goes on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWB alone."</P><P>Indonesian police demand that before a permit can be issued, promoters for the show must ensure Gaga is "dressed appropriately and does not violate the cultural norms in this country," according to the <i>Agence France-Presse</i> news service. And several of the country's top Islamic groups, including the National Ulema Council and the more militant Islamic Defenders Front, have protested her performance, calling it "blasphemous" and threatening to "create havoc" if the concert goes ahead as planned.</P><P>During his Music Matters speech, Carter said that he was still in negotiations with the Indonesian police in the hopes of obtaining a permit for the show. He added that at this time he does not know whether the concert will take place as scheduled.</p>

Britney Spears To Get New 'Glee' Tribute Episode

Fox comedy will also move to Thursday, like 'X Factor,' where Brit has signed on to judge.

<P>After drawing <a href="/news/articles/1648982/britney-spears-glee-episode-draws-record-setting-ratings.jhtml">record ratings the first time around, "Glee"</a> has announced plans to pay homage to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> ... one more time. The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Spears will join the "X Factor" as judge, when the competition show returns to Fox this fall on Thursday nights. (Glee also moves to Thursdays for season four.)</P><P>While Brit appeared in the September 2010 tribute episode, which used her impressive collection of hits, the 2012 tribute episode will instead focus on her "Glee" namesake, Brittany S. Pierce (played by Heather Morris), without any appearances from Spears. <a href="http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/15/glee-scoop-second-britney-tribute-exclusive" target="_blank">EW.com</a> reports that the new episode will be the second in the show's fourth season, returning in the fall.</P><P>The Spears-centric episode will feature eight of her songs, and a source revealed that Fox is excited to have Spears joining the network on "X Factor" and that the "Glee" ep is partly a reflection of that.</P><P>Spears was on hand Monday at the Fox Upfront presentation in New York City, where she appeared alongside fellow <a href="/news/articles/1685057/demi-lovato-britney-spears-x-factor.jhtml">"X Factor" newbie Demi Lovato</a>, as well as returning judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell. At the event, the judges and host of "So You Think You Can Dance" weighed in on the <a href="/news/articles/1685066/britney-spears-demi-lovato-x-factor.jhtml">ladies joining the show</a>.</P><P>"I don't have any advice for those ladies," "SYTYCD" host Cat Deeley told MTV News. "What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they've been in the business for so long and since being kids, and so quite often they've had successes and they've had failures on things.</P><P>"And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make," she added. "You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they'll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. 'Killing' Season Finale: The Killer Speaks

Two seasons and 26 episodes later, "The Killing" has finally answered the nagging question it first posed in its pilot episode: Who killed Rosie Larsen? The answer, tragically enough, was never far from home.

In the end, Rosie was killed by a one-two punch from Richmond campaign aide Jamie Wright and her own aunt Terry, who unwittingly delivered the killing blow. Though writers claim to have known the killer's identity since the show's first episode, "Killing" actress Jamie Anne Allman — who plays Terry on the AMC drama — didn't learn about her character's murderous actions until the eleventh hour.

"[Showrunner Veena Sud] had called me a couple hours before I was going in to read for the table read for episode 13, the last episode, that I was the killer," Allman told The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview. "When she gave me the news, I was upset, I started crying. I actually thought that while I was contemplating, 'What if I'm the killer?' that I'd be excited, but I started crying and started feeling bad for Terry. 'Oh man, this is a really tragic situation.' "

Allman said she was "shocked" and "surprised" by the "intense" revelation, and that preserving the secret of being the show's titular killer was not an easy one to keep.

"I thought I would just blab [it] out," she admitted. "Even now, me being able to talk about it is weird because I haven't been able to talk about it for so long. It's not a dream if people are seeing it on TV, though, is it?"

Ultimately, while she's not happy that Terry wound up being Rosie's killer, Allman said that she's satisfied by the turn of events.

"I don't know if I would say happy but I would say fulfilled," she said. "I feel like there is justice and a lot of people got to know someone who made a lot of bad choices. And have a little more understanding as to why she made those choices."

'Dark Knight Rises' Midnight Tickets Going For $150

Online scalpers are hoping fans can't wait even a few hours longer to see Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie, in The Weekly Rising.

How important is "The Dark Knight Rises" to you? Would you pay $150 to be the first to see Christopher Nolan's conclusion to his Batman trilogy at a midnight showing? Well, scalpers on eBay and Craigslist are hoping you will.

Advanced tickets for "The Dark Knight Rises" went on sale a week ago, and midnight shows quickly filled up, taking away opportunities from fans hoping to be the first to learn the fate of Gotham City and its Dark Knight. Since then, some of those tickets have gone back up for sale, with price tags inflated 80 percent in some cases, ScreenCrush reports.

A quick search on eBay revealed that not only are those reports true, but in some cases, the price has even gone up. The most common price is staying around the $150 mark, with tickets for the "Dark Knight Trilogy" marathon soaring even higher.

But is there something to the ridiculously high price? What makes those early showings so much more valuable than a matinee the following Sunday? There certainly is something to being among the first people to see it, but that gives the ticket-holder little more than bragging rights. The idea of looking forward to a movie now requires that you see it as soon as possible. After waiting four years, scalpers are betting that waiting just a few hours more will be enough to make fans cough up an extra $135 to see "The Dark Knight Rises" sooner.

Many would say that seeing the film as early as possible is the best way to avoid the deluge of spoilers on Twitter and Facebook. There have been a handful of minor spoilers posted online, but for the most part, the story and secrets of "The Dark Knight Rises" have stayed surprisingly unspoiled. The ad campaigns have focused on a few key questions, like whether Bruce Wayne will survive the final movie.

A representative from the online ticket outlet Fandango said the company's standing policy is that any ticket re-sold is declared invalid, so if you are considering purchasing a set of tickets for $300, you might want to consider this. Though the policy would be difficult to enforce, it's something to keep in mind if you're weighing your options.

<P>For a while now, folks have been referring to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyonc&#233;</a> as a queen ... but now, she's going to make it official. On the big screen.</P><P>According to <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/beyonce-colin-farrell-josh-hutcherson-amanda-seyfried-steven-tyler-lead-voice-cast-for-fox-animated-film-epic/" target="_blank">Deadline.com</a>, Beyonc&#233; has been cast as Queen Tara in the upcoming 3-D, CGI-animated film "Epic," a 20th Century Fox film from the makers of the hits "Ice Age" and "Rio."</P><P>The film reportedly tells the tale of a teenage girl transported to a secret universe, where she finds herself dropped square in the middle of a battle between the forces of good and evil. She joins forces with "a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters" to save the world. "Epic" is slated to hit theaters on May 24, 2013.</P><P>It's the first confirmed role for Beyonc&#233; since she took time off for maternity leave, though she's also slated to star in the Clint Eastwood-directed remake of "A Star Is Born."</P><P>Starring alongside Bey in the movie are the likes of Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried, Aziz Ansari and a pair of her fellow musicians, Pitbull and Aerosmith frontman/"American Idol" judge Steven Tyler. Johnny Knoxville, Jason Sudeikis and Judah Friedlander round out the cast.</P><P>Josh Hutcherson is also set to appear alongside Beyonc&#233; in the film. Green Lantern's New Gay Light: Blake Likely Has 'Multicolored' Idea

DC Comics broke some very progressive ground earlier this month when they announced that hero Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern, is gay. Naturally, the news made international headlines and was met with a myriad of different reactions, from outpourings of support to those of outrage and misunderstanding.

When MTV News caught up with "Green Lantern" actress Blake Lively recently as she promoted her latest film, "Savages," we asked for her thoughts on the subject, which was news to her.

"Cool!" Lively said, expressing her support for DC's monumental decision. "Maybe he'll get a multicolored costume and won't be green anymore," she added with a smile.

Lively brings up an excellent point: Not that the new writers or artists would ever completely do away with Lantern's signature green suit, but we can hope that they might add a few pieces of flair.

"He's going to be the leader of the team, this dynamic hero, he'll do anything to save people, the bravest man on the planet. Why not just make him gay as well?" said new "Lantern" writer James Robinson in an interview with USA Today. "What I really want to do with this character is make the fact that he's gay to be a part of who he is and not to be the one identifying aspect of him ... and have his humor and his bravery be as much or more a part of him as his sexuality."

Lively pointed out that Alan Scott is different from Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan from the 2011 movie and that the heroes come in all shapes and sizes. "There's lots of Green Lanterns," she said.

Robinson said this dynamic reimagining of Scott will eventually cross paths with Jordan, and they'll have very different personalities and abilities. "When they're firing their rings at the same time, you'll be able to tell which energy is which," he said. "That's a very important thing so that it sets them apart."

After opening for B in Atlantic City, New Orleans newcomer tells MTV News what he's learned from the Queen.

<P>It was the morning after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyonc&#233;</a>'s triumphant <a href="/news/articles/1685932/beyonce-michelle-obama-atlantic-city.jhtml">second show in Atlantic City</a> when we bumped into Luke James by an elevator bank at the Revel resort. R&B's reigning diva had tapped the New Orleans native to warm up the capacity crowds as she staged her comeback run over Memorial Day weekend, and James had the unmistakable bop of a man who knows he's done something ... special.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Luke James Learned To 'Give' From Beyonce" id="vid:787005" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Signed to Island Def Jam but still largely unknown to all but soul-music diehards, James had just the night before slayed a roomful of women that included the first lady, Michelle Obama. Armed with a flirty falsetto, James tossed long-stemmed red roses and lines like, "Before I met you, girl, I never knew my heart could dance/ I was just a broken record of one-night stands," from his standout single "I Want You." So what did the handsome upstart think when he heard he'd be opening up for the Grammy winner?</P><P>"The first thing I thought I was, 'OK, I need a band, gotta get the guys together, what we gon' wear, how we gon' do it 'cause I know <i>she's</i> gonna do it ... and what songs," James recalled when he stopped by the MTV newsroom, fresh from the four-night stint.</P><P>After jotting down a few notes on his mental checklist, Luke let himself absorb the moment: "And then I'm thinking, 'This is just an amazing opportunity. ... I was just elated."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Beyonce Gets Back To Business, Kicks Off Summer!" id="vid:785342" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>James has discovered up close what it means be a member of Queen B's court, not only because of the A.C. gigs, but because of their shared connection to Frank Gatson Jr., Beyonc&#233;'s longtime choreographer/creative director and now James' manager. Dressed casually in a denim button-down and a red knit cap that called to mind old photos of <a href="http://theselvedgeyard.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/marvin-gaye-denim-red1.jpg?w=600" target="_blank">Marvin Gaye</a>, the singer paused for a heartbeat before relaying what lessons he picked up from Mrs. Carter.</P><P>"What I learned from Beyonc&#233; is just the focus, the drive and to stay creative and to always give, just keep giving," he said. "Throughout the years that she's been doing it, since Destiny's Child to now, she's been giving.</P><P>"So this is the beginning for me ... I just want to remain giving and always [be] a necessity to people, you know?" he added thoughtfully. "Giving [fans] what they need. Lindsay Lohan 'Fine' After Paramedic Scare

Early reports say the actress was taken to the hospital, though her publicist tells MTV News she was just taking 'a nap.'

Just another day in the life of Lindsay Lohan: On Friday afternoon (June 15), California station KABC broke news that the oft-troubled actress was taken to the hospital after being found unconscious in a Marina del Rey, California, hotel room and that her condition "was currently unknown."

According to the report, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a 911 call at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel after Lohan — in Marina del Rey to film the Lifetime Original movie "Liz & Dick" — was found unconscious in the penthouse. KABC ended the story by promising "we will add more details to this report as they become available."

Of course, those details might be difficult to come by. Because right around the time KABC's report was making the rounds, TMZ jumped into the fray, breaking news that, while paramedics did respond to a 911 call at the hotel, Lohan was never taken to the hospital.

"Paramedics ... determined nothing was wrong with Lindsay [and] left without transporting her to the hospital," the TMZ story said. "Lindsay wasn't feeling well after complaining of exhaustion. She called someone from the 'Liz & Dick' production team early this morning, and the team sent a private doctor to check on her.

"Before arriving, the doctor called the hotel and asked someone to check on Lindsay," the report continued. "Someone from the hotel went to her door, 'checked on her' and determined she was 'unresponsive.' The hotel then called 911."

KABC subsequently updated its story to include a comment from Lohan's attorney, who let it be known that the actress was, in fact, "fine."

"As I understand it, she was exhausted after shooting non-stop for two days," Shawn Holley told the station. "Someone called paramedics, for reasons which are unclear. They determined that she was fine."

"She's OK," Dina Lohan told the Huffington Post. "She was working through the night and wrapped at 6:15 this morning. She's home now sleeping. She's doing a great job."

Lohan's publicist, Steve Honig, echoed those sentiments, telling MTV News in a statement: "Lindsay worked a grueling schedule for the past few days ... [and] took a nap before shooting her final scene. Producers were concerned when she did not come out of her room and called paramedics as a precaution."

Honig added that the actress was suffering from "some exhaustion and dehydration" and said she'd return to the "Liz & Dick" set later Friday

Cowell addressed a variety of tabloid rumors regarding Spears &#8212; namely that she's had some issues on set and that she's shaping up to be one of the tougher judges.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Spears Explains Why She Wanted To Be A Part Of 'X Factor'" id="vid:769620" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>When a cameraman asked whether "Britney's too unstable" to judge "X Factor," Cowell responded, "No, she's not unstable. I'm the one who's unstable! She's working out great. All these reports that we've fallen out are nonsense. She's doing a great job."</P><P>Cowell's car then pulls away, but again comes to a stop in traffic, allowing the paparazzi to continue his questioning. Asked whether Spears was his favorite judge, Cowell said, "There's only two girls," referring to Demi Lovato, and went on to jokingly admit that he is his own favorite of all time. "Yeah, I'd say Simon Cowell is a great guy," he quipped. "Very good looking."</P><P>Pressed further about Spears, Cowell offered more praise for the pop singer. "Like I said, she's been amazing. She's really taking time to learn how to do this," he continued. "She's got her confidence up. Once people give her a chance, I think people are really going to get her. It will be a big surprise. She's a tough judge."</P><P>As tough as the famously direct Cowell? "I'm a pussycat," he said playfully as his car pulled away.</P><P>We guess all that talk that <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20602881,00.html" target="_blank">Spears has been "incredibly tough"</a> on contestants might not be far from the truth. For her part, Spears responded to those rumors herself, taking to <a href="https://twitter.com/britneyspears/status/212289663422042112" target="_blank">Twitter</a> to say, "It's all tough love ...
