Lana Del Rey 'Compelled' By Britney Spears
Label boss Jimmy Iovine calls criticism 'a drag.'
By Gil Kaufman
<P>To look at her, you'd think <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rey_lana_del/artist.jhtml"_blank">Lana Del Rey's</a> inspirations come mostly from 1940s detective movies and sepia-toned Hollywood pinups. But the "Video Games" singer told England's Magic 105.4 that one of her big fashion and music icons is Britney Spears. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lana Del Rey Says Her Lyrics 'Are Personal'" id="vid:724891.id:1677189" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"I'm not really interested in a ton of female musicians but there is something about Britney that compelled me — the way she sings and just the way she looks," Del Rey said. And even though she's just released her major-label debut under the Del Rey name, she added that she's already kind of over music-making. </P><P> </P><P>"The thing that makes me happy now isn't really singing," she said. "Music was once the be-all and end-all, but when you lose everything you have over and over again, it's not so important." </P><P> </P><P>It might be a bit early for her to bail on the whole music thing though, since her album, <I>Born to Die</I>, topped the iTunes album charts in 14 countries this week, including the U.S., U.K., Italy, France, Germany, Ireland and Mexico. </P><P> </P><P>The chart triumph — and a possible #2 debut next week on the <I>Billboard</i> albums tally — came despite a rash of negative or <a href="/news/articles/1678050/lana-del-rey-album-born-to-die-reviews.jhtml">middling reviews</a>
of the album as well as the continuing fallout from her shaky <a href="/news/articles/1677389/lana-del-rey-snl.jhtml">"Saturday Night Live"</a>
debut last month. </P><P> </P><P>The haterade has gotten her label boss, Interscope's Jimmy Iovine, to chime in on the flack his latest protégé has been taking. "It's a drag," Iovine told <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/lana-del-rey-backlash-jimmy-iovine-286378" target="_blank"><I>The Hollywood Reporter</I></a>. "Maybe this is a new sport. It's something we've never seen before. Or maybe it's [like] the Giants and the Jets." Del Rey herself told <I>Rolling Stone</I> that she thought she looked "beautiful" and sang "fine" on the show, saying that "that's just the way I perform, and my fans know that." </P><P> </P><P>Say what you want about Del Rey's looks, attitude and performance ability, but Iovine said there is one thing you can't mess with. </P><P> </P><P>Musically, he thinks <I>Die</I> is "really good. Great lyrics and great songs. I don't care what anybody says, 'Video Games' is a great song. When she sings that song, it moves me. It's how we signed her — she sang and it was beautiful. I think she's really talented. Period."</p>

GETTING FRENCHY: Solange & Jourdan Dunn Hit H&M's Paris Fashion Week + Drake & Kanye West DINE OUT In Paris
Everybody headed over to Paris for Paris Fashion Week it seems. See what Drake, Kanye West, Solange and Jourdan Dunn are up to inside...
Drake was spotted out to dinner in Paris, France last night. He's in town for his "Would You Like A Tour?" stop which featured a surprise appearance from Rihanna earlier this week. ANd he's heading to surrounding cities next.
Drake's dinner partner for the evening was his rap mentor, Kanye West, who joined him at Costes Hotel. We're sure Kanye is in town to take in a few womenswear shows (since he's so "serious" about launching his own label). He even talked to Seth Meyers, earlier this week, about the fashion world putting him in a box.
Also in Paris......
Singer and fashion "It" girl Solange Knowles was seen arriving at the H&M Fashion Show at the Grand Palais for Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2014-2015. And we're loving everything about this. The beautiful backdrop, her print-on-print short set look that's ClASSIC Solange, and those killer gams.
Model Jourdan Dunn, who appeared alongside Beyonce in "XO" and Yonce", also attended the show in a print-on-print shorts and blazer look.
And Jordan and Solange were sitting pretty on the front row with Miranda Kerr and Jessica Alba. All the ladies rocked looks from the HM Conscious Exclusive SS14 line. Gorge!

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Sometimes Feeling 'Worthless'
Singer discusses being bullied as a child and her plan not to speak to the media 'for a very long time' on 'Oprah's Next Chapter.'
By Jocelyn Vena
<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> confessed she wants to have enough children to form a <a href="/news/articles/1681179/lady-gaga-oprah-winfreys-next-chapter-own.jhtml">"soccer team"</a> when she sat down with talk show maven Oprah Winfrey for "Oprah's Next Chapter." In the intimate chat, which took place at Gaga's childhood home in New York City, the never-press-shy Gaga made another big announcement. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:749701/cp~vid%3D749701%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A749701" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>"Other than this interview, Oprah, I don't intend to speak to anyone for a very long time. "The latest thing I do is I don't read a damn thing. No press, no television. If my mom calls and says, 'Did you hear about?' I don't want to know nothing about anything that is going on ... I shut it all off." </P><P> </P><P>Gaga's mother was on hand for parts of the interview, sharing that in Gaga's early days, her father thought she had a "screw loose" while she was performing at downtown New York nightclubs in her bra while lighting hairspray on fire. The superstar added that there's one thing about her current act that her mother isn't a big fan of. </P><P> </P><P>"She doesn't like when I swear," Gaga said, with her mother adding, "You're effective without it." </P><P> </P><P>Another part of the candid chat also focused on Gaga's youth, during which she said she was frequently bullied. "There really is no difference between the bully and the victim," she said. "I would like to do a psychological autopsy on as many bullies and victims as possible ... How do we understand what breeds hatred, what breeds anger?" </P><P>She added that despite all "all the praise you receive, something inside of you is scarred by those experiences. ... Sometimes I feel worthless." </P><P>Parts of the special were also filmed at Harvard University last month. </P><P> </P><P>The singer and the talk show host were on hand at the prestigious college to launch Gaga's <a href="/news/articles/1680176/lady-gaga-launches-born-this-way-foundation-harvard.jhtml"><i>Born This Way</i> Foundation</a>. </P><P> </P><P>"I just have one thing to say before we get started: We got Oprah! ... Thank you from all of us — from my entire team, from my mother, from the bottom of the hearts of so many people who believe in what we're doing today," Gaga said at the launch. She explained that the foundation seeks to empower the youth of America, adding, "How can we inspire young people to know they have the power to be brave?"</p>

Saving Our Daughters Snatches Down Original Statement On Kenya & Charity Gala
With all of the drama the past few days surrounding Kenya Moore and the Saving Our Daughters organization, the charity has retracted their statement that said Kenya paid them no money from her gala.
Deets inside, and the trouble the charity is reportedly in.....
But why you mad though? LOL FB to anyone who can correctly guess how many times my name was mentioned?
— KENYA MOORE (@KenyaMoore) February 21, 2014
After NeNe's stint on "The View" today, Kenya Moore and her followers took notice of how many times her name was mentioned during the interview.
And apparently, those receipts she provided this week to prove that Saving Our Daughters indeed received funds from the charity gala, have led the organization to remove their statement.
Currently, when you visit the original link where S.O.D. posted their statement, the entire page has been removed. And so have the tweets.
Kenya may know how to stir a pot..but chick also knows how to provide receipts for the tea.

Kenya Moore Offers Up Receipts That She Paid 'Saving Our Daughters' $500 + Spends Valentine's In Nigeria With Her Mystery Boo
Kenya Moore is popping back at the accusations that Saving Our Daughters received none of the money she raised from her "charity gala" on "RHOA". Check out the receipts she's providing inside...
Well, Kenya provided the receipts we all asked for. Even though the CEO & Founder of the Saving Our Daughters organization claims they never received a dollar of the $10,000 the gala raised in their (and NeNe's) honor, Kenya says that's simply not true.
She tells the folks over at B Scott:
“It’s unfortunate Mr. Curtis Benjamin was not aware of the effort I put into trying to make the event a success for Saving Our Daughters or overlooked the texts regarding the intended honoree. I spent over $10,000 dollars to make the charity event successful, in addition to making a personal donation from the event as well as forwarding any and all donations collected. I hope the focus can shift to the young girls and I wish the organization nothing but the best in the future.”
And the site published a copy of what appears to be Kenya's (the name is blacked out) $500 check that was written out to the organization. Now, whether or not the company ever received the check is a different story. Or it's also possible this is the same $500 they did admit Kenya gave as a "Christmas donation". Was the Christmas donation supposed to be the same as the charity gala donation? Or nah?
The site also published text messages, which seemed to have come from Kenya, that prove she was in communication with CEO Curtis Benjamin himself. One response from Curtis said:
“Hi Kenya – Thank you for your personal donation as well. Here is the address so we can make it on time. Saving Our Daughters 311 Ryan Trail Dallas, GA 30157 :) . We will email over your thank you receipt letter this week from our trustee board for your total donation. Again thank you. :)"
Reportedly, Kenya had all attendees write out their donation checks to HER, not the S.O.D. org. So maybe she gathered up all--or some--and handed over a donation in her own name?
So, how does NeNe, the alleged honoree, play into all this again?
Who knows. But Kenya tweeted last night:
I have video proof more check copies and a contract too so pls do not come for me unless I send for you. #dropsmicrophone #grabsbible2pray4u
— KENYA MOORE (@KenyaMoore) February 19, 2014
And she's not too bothered by it all. She's on a vacay as we type in Lagos, Nigeria. And you already know why. She hinted she's spending time with her mystery boo we've heard so much about (but have yet to see):
Night night it's 5am in Lagos now. Someone is not happy I'm up. Going to bed teamtwirl #theytriedit #keepingitclassy
